The HelpSoq team has released a motivational booklet for anyone working with therapeutic compression stockings. Under the provocative title “Do I want compression stockings?” the reader gets to know the therapy and its qualities. The booklet has only 25 pages and tells lightly about this often detested therapy.

The compression stocking is a fraught topic for nurses and carers. Because they are often the ones who have to visit their patients early in the morning. To help them wash first and then put on those stiff, unruly compression stockings. The booklet maps this complex world, but also comes up with solutions.

The booklet has been compiled under the expert direction and final editing of Prof. dr. Martino Neumann, internationally recognized authority in dermatosurgery, oncology and phlebology. Neumann realizes better than anyone in what difficult position compression stocking therapy is, because approximately half of all Dutch patients do not get around to putting on their stockings on time every day. And that is disastrous for the therapy. But the booklet explains in understandable language how you can prevent loss of therapy adherence.
“Patients rarely realize what processes are taking place in their lower legs. And if you better understand those issues, you’ll be much more motivated to help your body fight against gravity. Martino Neumann has been involved in the development of the HelpSoq machine since the design phase, and sees this device as the solution for a large group of patients who find it difficult to put on their stockings.

The booklet will be provided free of charge with each HelpSoq. So that in addition to the patients themselves, informal caregivers, nurses and other caregivers can also read what the entire therapy is about. Everyone involved will feel more motivated and aware of the conditions they are helping to fight. “In the long run, this will lead to a reduced number of cases of open leg injuries. And as a result, we may also limit the costs associated with this,” says Martino Neumann.
